What areas do you service?
Australia-wide. Scan My Photo is a family-owned and operated business located in Caboolture, Queensland, Australia (City of Moreton Bay, between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast). Most customers send their items to our PO Box (Scan My Photo, PO Box 125, Caboolture, Qld, 4510), but if you live close by, you are more than welcome to hand deliver and pick up your items from 40 Duncan Street, Caboolture, Qld, 4510 (by appointment only).
Do you have insurance?
Postage and associated insurance of items sent to Scan My Photo are the customer's responsibility. Scan My Photo returns the items using Australia Post Flat Rate Packaging, which states on the packaging, "If your parcel is lost or damaged, compensation of up to $100 and a postage refund may be payable". If you require additional insurance using Australia Post Extra Cover, the additional cost will be borne by the customer. How do I send you my items?
Scan My Photo suggests that customers use Australia Post Flat Rate Packaging to send their items to our PO Box (click here for more information on how to pack your photographs). However, you are free to use the delivery service of your choice. Scan My Photo is located in Caboolture, Queensland, Australia (City of Moreton Bay, between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast), so if you live close by, you are more than welcome to hand deliver and pick up your items (by appointment only).
What is the turnaround time?
Bulk photo scanning turnaround is approximately 48 hours depending on the workload. Manual photo scanning and scanning of slides and negatives has a much longer turnaround time and depends on the workload.
What is the resolution (PPI) of the scans?
Bulk photo scanning - 1200 PPI interpolated as standard. 600 PPI optical resolution also available on request.
Manual photo scanning - 1200 PPI as standard. Extra cost for higher resolutions up to 4800 PPI.
Slides and negatives - 14MP resolution (22MP with interpolation). For a 135 film negative (i.e. from a 35mm camera) developed on to a 6x4" photograph, this is equivalent to approximately 720 PPI (950 PPI with interpolation)

What format will the files be?
Bulk and manual photo scans are in JPEG format as standard. TIFF format is available at an additional fee per photograph. Click here to learn more about the choice between JPEG and TIFF.
Slides and negatives scans are in JPEG format only.
What size/format photos, slides and negatives do you scan?
Bulk photo scanning - Minimum size 51x51mm (2x2in) to Maximum 215x914mm (8.5x36in)
Manual photo scanning - Up to A4.
Color and B&W negatives - 135, 110, 126mm
50mm Slides - 135, 110, 126mm
What type of scanner do you use?
For bulk scanning, Scan My Photo uses the latest Epson picture scanning technology, a wireless high-speed photo and document scanning system specifically designed to digitise photos and documents. For manual scanning, an Epson flatbed is used. For slides and negatives scanning, Kodak branded technology is used.
Do I get my items back?
Yes, Scan My photo will return your items upon payment via Australia Post Flat Rate Packaging. An online Dropbox will be provided for you to download your scans (accessible for 30 days). If you do not want the items returned, Scan My Photo can dispose of them for you.
What is the cost of return delivery?
Scan My Photo will return your original items (excluding large albums etc.) free of charge via Australia Post.
How do I pay?
Scan My Photo accepts three forms of payment:
Direct deposit to our bank account: Details will be provided with the invoice.
Cash: Only available for local customers at photo pickup.
Credit/Debit Card via PayPal invoice: An email invoice with a PayPal link. Major debit/credit cards or PayPal balance available.
What if I am not happy with the end product?
Once your order is processed, a copy of your order will be uploaded to Dropbox (downloads will be inactive). You have the opportunity at this stage to evaluate your order. If you are not happy, then you are not obliged to accept and pay for the work. The return postage fee of the photographs is the responsiblity of the customer.
Do you keep a backup copy of my photographs?
Yes, a backup of your scanned photographs will be kept on Dropbox for 30 days, which you can access via the link provided.
