Scan My Photo is a family-owned business started by a father and son team located in Caboolture, Queensland, Australia (City of Moreton Bay, between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast). Dad (Len) has now put up this feet up and passed the business on to Marc (son).

We understand the incredible value and sentimentality attached to your cherished photographs. These timeless snapshots hold the power to transport us back to treasured moments, reliving the joy, love, and laughter we experienced.

We also understand the daunting task of digitising thousands of physical photographs. Scan My Photo started after my father (the founder of the business) wanted to preserve over 5000 photographs. With only a traditional flatbed scanner, the task was near impossible. There had to be a better way. We decided to create a better way and share the joy with everyone experiencing the same anxiety.

Conditions of Bulk Scanning

• Photographs must be in good condition
• Photographs must be unmounted
• Photographs must not be torn, bent or sticky
• No Staples, Blu Tac, or foreign objects attached to the photo
• Photographs must be removed from album pages or photo album service selected
• Photographic paper must be flexible, not stiff (laminated pictures may need to be manually scanned)
• No Polaroid or instant photos (see Manual Scan)
• Minimum size 51x51mm (2x2in) to Maximum 215x914mm (8.5x36in)

• Manual scanning is for photographs not meeting the quality conditions required for Bulk Scanning
• Damaged photographs allowed
• Scan up to A4 size

• 14MP resolution (22MP with interpolation). For a 135 film negative (i.e. from a 35mm camera) developed on to a 6x4" photograph, this is equivalent to approximately 720 PPI (950 PPI with interpolation) ⓘ

• Scans available on Dropbox for 30 days

Conditions of Slides and Negatives Scanning

• Slides and negatives must be in reasonable condition
• Negatives strips of only 1 or 2 frames will be charged at double the rate. If the majority of strips have more than 2 frames, this extra cost will be waived.

How Much Does It Cost?

Inclusions

• Playable DVD for each VHS/MiniDV Tape @ $5.00 per DVD.
• VCR loan to check VHS tapes @ $150 deposit. If you don't know what is on your VHS tapes and you don't own a VCR, you can borrow one to check at home. Limited availability and pick up only from Caboolture, Qld.

Conditions of VHS and MiniDV video transfer:

• Tapes must be in resonable condition. Mouldy tapes cannot be digitised.
• Only PAL Standard (Not NTSC).

Standard Transfer (for discs that read normally)

• All files extracted
• Convert video to MP4
• Convert audio CDs to WAV/MP3

Damaged Disc Recovery (for discs that won't read, skip, freeze, or show errors)

• Sector‑by‑sector imaging
• Multi‑drive recovery attempts

Inclusions

• Return postage of the original optical discs if required.
• Digital formats available for download on Dropbox for 30 days.

Extras

Conditions of Transfer & Recovery:

• All optical discs will follow standard transfer initially. If optical discs are found to be defective, you will be contacted before recovery commences.
• The $65 cost for recovery includes transfer.
• If the optical disc is completely unreadable, no fee will be charged.
