Dropbox Download

Downloading Digital Copies from Dropbox

The following steps will guide you through downloading your digital copies from Dropbox. Remember, downloading is only optional. You can always provide your own USB flash drive or purchase one from Scan My Photo for your digital copies.

1) What Device and Operating System Are You Using?

Dropbox is a great online platform for viewing, downloading, storing, and sharing files. However, it is very limited when used on an Android or Apple smartphone or tablet. Smartphones and tablets are effective for viewing your digital copies, but not for downloading. You need to use a Desktop PC or Laptop running Windows or macOS.

You have three options:

  1. Download from Dropbox using a desktop computer or a laptop running Windows or macOS.
  2. Use your own Dropbox account. That is, Scan My Photo will share your folder with your Dropbox account, so you don't need to download at all.
  3. Purchase a USB flash drive containing your digital copies.

If either option 1 or option 2 applies, please move on to Step 2.

If option 3 is applicable, please get in touch with Marc at marc@scanmyphoto.com.au or 0411 071 124

2) Do You Already Have a Dropbox Account?

No: Move on to Step 3.

Yes: Contact Marc at marc@scanmyphoto.com.au or 0411 071 124, and he will share the folder with your Dropbox-registered email.

3) Download Using a Browser on a Computer or Laptop

The instructions below are based on the Google Chrome browser on a Windows 11 Desktop PC. The steps will be similar for other browsers and operating systems.

Step 1:

Once you have paid the invoice for your items, Marc will send you an email containing a link to Dropbox. Click on this link. A browser window/tab will appear like this:

The folder name will be your name, not mine, though.

Step 2:

Click the "Download Button".

Step 3:

The following will appear:

Step 4:

Click "Or continue with download only".

Step 5:

A message "Your download should start soon" should appear. Please be patient. If you have many images, this can take a while.

Step 6:

Once downloading has started, a download icon will appear in the top right corner of the browser.

Step 7:

When the download is finished, the download icon will change.

Step 8:

Left-click on the icon to show the recent download history.

Step 9:

Hover over the download, which is a .zip file titled "your name.zip" and left-click the "Show in folder" icon.

Step 10:

The "Downloads" folder will appear in File Explorer.

Step 11:

Right-click on the "your name.zip" folder and left-click "Extract All".

Step 12:

Select a destination to extract the files. It's up to you, but for ease, use the "Downloads" folder and click "Extract".

Step 13:

Your digitised copies are now on your computer.
